POP Display Quality Problems

There will always be a lot of POP display quality problems, some problems will be a miss if you don’t pay attention, and it will endless troubles in the future.

1. Weak or Broken Weld

To any metal display productions, it is important to make sure the strength of the welds and ensure that the welds are strong enough to hold the weight of your product but also endure mistreatment in the shipping process.

2. Chipping MDF

Wood(MDF) parts are often in jagged edges and minor chipping after cutting with a dull blade. This will affect the look of the overall display product so it is valuable to pay more attention to the edges of MDF pieces.

,,3. Ball, ,Bearings

If you need a spinning around display product, it is necessary to ensure that the bearing is a high-quality one. Cheap, low-quality bearings are not uncommon so it is necessary to test the functionality of the bearing and ensure it spins freely in both directions when the display product is fully loaded. The heavier your product, the more likely the bearing is to wear and tear over time.

4. Poor Powder Coating Finish

The appearance display of any retail display is a critical element and a highly visible reflection of the quality of the product. Whether your display product has a matte or a glossy paint finish, check to make sure the paint is evenly distributed and ensure there are no scratches or blemishes in the finish. Poor powder coating can cause in the finish chipping or flaking off. Make sure that the metal parts are protected if they are packed together so that the paint does not be rubbed off in transit. Finally, make sure your manufacturer chemically treats the metal parts before powder coating which will help protect the parts from rusting over time.

5. Inferior Sign Material and Printing

Some foam PVC products are very soft and will dent easily. Test this by poke your fingernail into the sign and see if it leaves a dent.

Signs have bubbles that influence the quality of the signs. Inspect signs carefully to ensure they are bubble-free. Checking the quality of the printing is also important. Make sure the color matches your specifications and look for areas of pixelation which can compromise the effectiveness of your sign.

,,6. Sub-standard Castors

When casters fail, your display can be rendered useless. Make sure the casters on your POP display can withstand the weight of display product when fully loaded. In addition to ensuring high-quality castors, we also need to ensure the welds on the points of connection are strong enough. The strongest casters can fail if the caster attachment point is weak.

,,7. Low Quality Acrylic

Low-quality acrylic generally turns yellow under UV lighting in retail stores. High-quality acrylic can last for 10 years without yellowing. Low-quality acrylic can also crack more easily. All acrylic, no matter what the quality, needs to be packed with adequate protection to minimize damage in shipping.

,,8. Bad Acrylic Glue

In factory production, we use one-component adhesives suitable for mass production. The one-component adhesive is high speed and produced in batches. Grease, dust, or pores that can hinder the uniform coating of adhesives and leave bubbles. Use an insufficient amount of binder can bring air into the glued surface when it shrinks. Direct blowing will make the edge of the adhesive surface white due to the volatilization of the adhesive. Indoor humidity, temperature and so on have a direct impact on the bonding of acrylic panels.

,,9. Cheap Hardware

The nicest displays look low-end if the hardware is cheap. Cheap hardware is often weak, easily bent, mismatch the decor of the display, and may have a finish that easily chips.

,,10. Misaligned Parts

Displays need to be assembled typically require relatively tight tolerances. Ensure that the holes and parts are well aligned that easy to assembly. It is common to see parts that don’t align properly and are difficult to assemble. Some manufacturers make the parts of displays independent of one another and don’t take the time to assemble the units to ensure a proper fit.

,,11. Thin or Dented Sheet Metal

Displays with high-quality sheet metal and excellent workmanship are generally smooth and nicely finished. When the sheet metal is too thin, it is often easy to see unattractive weld marks from the underside of the sheet metal. Poorly constructed sheet metal parts often have denting which detracts from the appearance of the display.
